ST. MARY’S NEWSLETTER FOR OCTOBER 3, 2018
REQUEST FROM THE CAFETERIA - Mrs. Craft is requesting that lunch payments be placed in an envelope with your requested distribution between multiple students, additional milks/waters, or specific instructions. She does not always know what your intentions are, and emails often go unanswered, so please be very clear with how you want the money split up.
NEW THIS YEAR! - A new Math series has been adopted for grades 6-8. Also, new doors leading into the gym will be installed shortly. Monsignor Bales’ memorial money will pay for one set of new doors.
REMAINING DOOR - One set of doors at the north end of the gymnasium should also be replaced. If anyone would like to purchase the doors, it is about $4500 for the one set which is all that is left to upgrade!
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS - Last spring, parents were asked to please have physicals, shot records, etc. (requirements from State of Illinois) in by the first day of school. This was in several newsletters and an email was also sent. If the state paperwork is not in by October 15th, STUDENTS MAY NOT ATTEND SCHOOL until the requirements are met. If you receive a phone call from our school nurse, please get the required information turned in as soon as possible. Thank you.
PT PENGUIN - It’s that time again! United Way will be dropping off our collections bottles soon! Start collecting those pennies!!
BOX TOPS - Keep collecting those Box Tops and filling your sheets! Our first submission this year will be at the end of this month! The winning class gets a popcorn party!!

ST. MARY’S PROGRESSIVE RAFFLE! - Something new this year ~ the Auction Committee has decided to run a “progressive raffle” for the next 5 months leading up to the auction (think Amboy’s Depot Days raffle).
Packets of 50/50 tickets will be coming home on October 12th. Please note: This is NOT MANDATORY! We will be sending home $100 worth of tickets and tickets sell for $1 each. It is our hope that each family would sell tickets to contribute to the running total. We plan to sell tickets for 5 months in hope of building a large pot. The committee will draw the winner the night of our annual auction, February 23, 2019. We will keep a running total on our Facebook page. Please share on your Facebook page to get the public involved! Please return your tickets to the office once they are sold. If you run out of tickets, please contact the school or Katy Selmi @ 815-441-4575 to get more. Thanks
SERVE-A-THON - All classes have been scheduled for our Serve-A-Thon which will take place on October 12th. I stopped by each class yesterday to talk to them about their assignments. Sponsor forms - as well as permission forms - will be coming home with your student today. Parents, please consider driving as we always need help with transportation and chaperones. If you are able to drive, make sure all required Safe Environment Forms as well as your vehicle/insurance forms are completed and on file. T-shirts will be given to students on October 10th. Please return your permission forms as soon as possible. Thank you for your help in making this day of service worthwhile for our students and those being served. ~Danielle Reed 815-499-1324~
