ST. MARY’S NEWSLETTER FOR MAY 16, 2018
REMINDER - We will have school: Tuesday, May 29th; **Wednesday May 30th: 6th & 7th Awards assembly at 10AM (a change) and Fun Day in the afternoon. PERMISSION SLIPS ARE DUE BACK BY FRIDAY, MAY 25TH; Thursday, May 31st: Mass and report cards. Students will be dismissed about 9:30.
DIOCESAN PAPERWORK - Everyone needs to re-sign the acknowledgement for “Guidelines for Youth and those working with Youth form. You can read about the guidelines on the Diocesan website @ www.rockforddiocese.org . The information can be accessed on the left side under “Resource Links Documents and Forms/Safe Environment/Forms & Guidelines for Youth and those working with Youth”. We are sending home 2 copies of the acknowledgement form (1 for each parent/guardian) to be signed and returned to the school before then end of the year. If you do not sign and return the form, you will be removed from the system and have to re-submit all required forms again. Please return the form as quickly as possible.
TUITION AND FEES - all tuition and fees for this school year must be paid in full by May 25th in order for the children to return for the 2018-2019 school year.
REGISTRATION FOR THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR - was sent home. Please get your paperwork turned in as soon as possible. If you are not returning, please let the office know.
NOTE: PreK-3 class is full. There are still openings in the Pre-K4 class.
SPANISH 2018-2019 - Spanish classes for 5th-8th grade students will be held on Mondays from 2:30-3:00 or 3:10. The cost per week is $10. This time change will give more students the opportunity to take the class. Grades K-2 will be Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00. Grades 4-5 will be Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00. Cost is $12 per class.
SUMMER SCHOOL - flyer was sent home. Please make sure to complete the form and return it to school by Friday, May 18th with the required deposit.
ALTAR SERVER PIZZA PARTY - all servers who serve at Wednesday school Masses and weekends at St. Mary’s Church are invited to attend a pizza party on Friday, May 18th from 3:00-3:30pm in the parish center.
8TH GRADE LAST DAY - will be Tuesday, May 22nd. Rehearsal for graduation will take place in the morning.
GROUNDS CLEAN-UP - will be Wednesday, May 23rd at 8:30am.
LAST DAY FOR UNIFORMS - will be Friday, May 25th Students may bring in their uniforms for the exchange on the 29th or 30th. Students may wear jeans, capris, or LONG shorts for May 29th, 30th and 31st.
MASS SCHEDULE CHANGE - We will NOT be attending Mass on Wednesday, May 23rd, we will be attending on Friday, May 25th.
8TH GRADE GRADUATION - Thursday, May 24th at 6:30PM in the church. Please keep our graduates and their families in your prayers as they prepare to make the transition to high school.
**WEDNESDAY, MAY 30TH - The awards assembly for 6th and 7th grades will be held at 10AM in Bales Hall in the Parish Center. Families are welcome to attend.
**FUN DAY : A) will be held in the afternoon on Wednesday, May 30th. Students will walk to Kilgour Park and enjoy an afternoon of fun and games. Please wear jeans, long shorts or capris and your Walk-A-Thon T-shirt.
B) is in need of volunteers! Please call Tammy at 815-626-5623 if you are able to help from 11:45-3:00! We are looking for a few smiley, energetic, silly parents to help run the games for the kids or chaperone a team! We would also love any and all graduating 8th graders or even high school siblings who would like to come back and be a part of the fun. The more the merrier!! Thank you!
PRE-K SCHEDULE CHANGE - Students will have normal attendance on Tuesday, May 29th. The annual end of year picnic will be held on Wednesday, May 30th.
FUNDRAISING 2018-19 - If you missed the sign-up meeting and haven’t locked in your dates for next year’s fundraising campaign, please call Tammy Moran at 815-626-5623
SPRING COUPONS = EASY FUNDRAISING - Spring Coupons = Easy Fundraising Two kinds of coupons were sent home.
1. Again, this year you will receive Winstead’s mulch coupons. Simply hand them a coupon at the time of the mulch pick-up or delivery, and St. Mary’s will receive a $4.00 donation for every yard of mulch that is sold throughout the year!
2. New this year, Selmi’s Greenhouse and Farm Market will give St. Mary’s 10% of your purchase price when you present your coupon while buying flowers between today and May 28, 2018! Flowers are a wonderful way to beautify your home, great to give for Mother’s Day, and purchase for Memorial Day!
Please share both of the coupons with your friends and family (extra coupons are in the office).
UNIFORM EXCHANGE - Did your kids grow over the winter? We have had a lot of recent donations to our uniform exchange. If you find yourself in need, please stop in and check it out! And remember - they are FREE!
LIBRARY NEWS : A) All library books must be turned in and all fines paid by Friday, May 18th. 8th Graders - this is especially important for you!! The Principal’s Challenge will take place Monday, May 21st, and is only for those students in 2nd-8th grades who have earned attendance. INVITATIONS will be coming home today to those parents whose children will be receiving an award during the AR awards ceremony. B) The Principal’s Challenge - The Accelerated Reader Program “Principals Challenge” will take place Monday, May 21st and is only for those students in 2nd - 8th grade who have earned attendance (a minimum of 10 AR reading Points). *Invitations were sent home last week to those parents whose children will be receiving an award during the AR awards ceremony (immediately following). SUMMER PROGRAMS: Each week until the end of school, there will be a list of summer activity offers from around town. If your child is interested in participating, please have them stop by the office and pick up a participation form.
