P.T. PENGUIN - This is the last week for grades K-5 to bring in pennies for the United Way! Let’s finish strong! Remember, the United Way is planning a surprise for the class that collects the most pennies!
HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARADE - will be Friday, October 30th at 2:30pm. Students in Grades K-5 will be able to dress in their costumes and parade around the outside of the school in costume. See Mrs. Selmi’s flyer that was included in the Selmi Spotlight for more information.
NEWMAN STOCK THE PANTRY DRESS DOWN DAYS- Due to COVID19 precautions, Newman is conducting the Stock the Pantry event differently this year. They have invited us to have a Dress Down day every Friday from October 30-November 20!! Since we won’t be collecting canned goods this year, we ask that if your child chooses to dress down, you provide $1 or a donation that we will collect and give to Newman. Newman students will be purchasing goods needed at the food pantry. Thank you so much for helping us help others in our community! Now let’s have some fun while doing it! Friday, October 30- Halloween Day-Jeans with a Halloween or black or orange top Thursday, November 5- USA Day-Jeans with red, white, blue or USA top Friday, November 13- Sports Day-Jeans with your favorite sports team on top Friday, November 20- Crazy Hat/Hair Day-Jeans with a school appropriate top and a hat or crazy hair DRESS CODE UPDATE - No shorts may be worn after October 31st. Only acceptable uniform attire is: navy pants, jumpers, skorts or skirts in our school plaid.
FRUIT SALE - ending this Saturday!! Make sure and check out the website @ smsfundraising.net. It’s so much more than just fruit - including great gift ideas too. Ordering will end on October 31st.

OLD NEWS: TOYS FOR TOTS - In years past, Toys for Tots has solicited names for their program from area schools, businesses and organizations. This year, they have created a website where anyone can apply. The website is saukvalley.toysfortots.org. If you, or someone you know could benefit from the program, please log in and enter your information.
OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES - we will continue to have the kids outside for recess and P.E. According to the Child Care Weather Watch Chart, students will only remain indoors for RECESS if the temperature with windchill is below 10 degrees. P.E. will remain indoors if the temperature with windchill is below 30 degrees. Please make sure your child has a coat, as well as a hat and gloves if needed.
CAFETERIA INFORMATION - The State requires us to place a carton of milk on every hot lunch tray. We are aware that some children can’t drink milk, but they still must have one on their tray, and it is included in the hot lunch price. We also have bottles of water for sale for $.40. So if your child returns their milk and requests a bottle of water, it costs $.40. Also, if your child requests a second milk, it costs $.40.
LIBRARY NEWS Birthday Book Club: Each year on your child’s birthday, they can donate a book to the library. There will be a sticker placed inside the book with your child’s name indicating it was a gift for the Birthday Book Club. NEW MEMBER: October 22nd, Hayden Kelly (1), “Can You Tell a Cheetah from a Leopard?”
