ST. MARY’S NEWSLETTER FOR MAY 18, 2022

WELCOME AMANDA KNAPP! – We would like to announce Mrs. Amanda Knapp as our new 3^rd grade teacher for 2022-2023! Mrs. Knapp comes to us with 4 years of experience at the primary level. She is enthusiastic and positive and will be a great addition to our school!!

SUMMER SCHOOL – is canceled due to lack of interest.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STATE TRACK ATHLETES!  - We sent 21 students to state and brought home 24 medals. Pictures are up on the website. Thank you so much to the coaches for a GREAT season and to the families for all the coordinating of taking and picking up and feeding snacks … etc. It takes a village!  GO SAINTS!!!

END OF YEAR FIELD TRIPS – lots happening here with end of year Field Trips. Just a reminder to check your VIRTUS account and make sure everything is current. If you receive an email from Robbin, she is letting you know that you need to sign in and update a form, or she is letter you know you are good to go.

YEARBOOK ORDER FORMS – Order envelopes were due May 16^th. Very last day to turn in orders is Friday, May 20^th.

8^th GRADERS LAST DAYS – Please keep our 8^th graders in your thoughts and prayers, as they and their families prepare for the next chapter in their children’s lives. Today is their last day at school with graduation practice held in the morning and their final locker cleaning! Their graduation luncheon and awards banquet will be held Thursday, May 19^th. Graduation will be held Friday, May 20^th at 6:30 in the church. Students should meet in Bales Hall at 6:00pm.

6^TH AND 7^TH AWARDS CEREMONY – will be held Tuesday, May24th, at 10AM in Bales Hall. Parents are invited.

FUN DAY! – Home & School is busy making plans for FUN DAY on Thursday, May 26^th!! We will be back to our regular format with NO restrictions. Attached is a link to the Sign-Up Genius for parents to help with donations for the afternoon of fun!!  Fun Day Sign-up Genius 

LAST DAY – is Friday, May 27^th. Students will attend outdoor Mass at the church, return to the school to receive their final report cards, and be dismissed about 9:30. Parents are invited to attend this closing Mass.
A HUGE THANK YOU – to Heather Jenkins and Raeann Reyes for undertaking the huge commitment to chair our Home and School. So, so many things families are not even aware of are driven by this duo. And more thanks to the parent that always step up to lend a hand when Heather and Raeann ask. The staff and students experience so many fantastic events thanks to Home & School!!

SUMMER RUNNING & FITNESS PROGRAM – Coach Welty and Coach Propheter are sponsoring a summer conditioning program. Flyers are being sent home. Here is the link: Summer Running and Conditioning

NEWMAN SUMMER CAMPS – Camp registration forms are coming home today. They include:

2022-2023 REGISTRATION – We are thrilled to see so many returning families and we are welcoming many new families next year! Please complete the registration forms and return them along with the Registration Fee and Book Fee as soon as possible. Questions? Call the office.

JOB OPENINGS - We are now hiring for a full-time 1^st-grade teacher for the 2022- 2023 school year! The application is posted online. It can be accessed from our website under JOB OPENINGS.

We also have an opening for a part-time RTI teacher. Applications are linked on our website.

MOBILE PHONE INFORMATION – Mrs. Selmi wants to use SchoolSpeak as our text message service. If you could log into your SchoolSpeak account, click on your name in the upper right hand corner and then on Update My Profile, your information will come up.  Please make sure your mobile number is listed in the “mobile phone number” box and then enter your Service Carrier in the box from the drop-down menu selection. LIBRARY NEWS
AR Principal’s Challenge – is Tuesday, May 24^th and is ONLY for those students in 2^nd through 8^th grades who have earned attendance (a minimum of 10 AR reading points).

AR Awards Ceremony – will be held in conjunction with “PCE”. INVITATIONS were sent home last week to those parents whose children will be receiving an award. (eligibility requires an average comprehension score of 85% or higher)

End of Year Dates:
May 20 – All K-7^th Grade library books are due! Last day for library classes.
May 24 – AR Principal Challenge/AR Awards Ceremony

7/8 VOLLEYBALL – We are happy to announce Cahley Rosengren ([email protected]) has volunteered to coach our 7/8 Sauk Valley Saints Volleyball team! More information will be coming over the summer.
