ST. MARY’S NEWSLETTER FOR OCTOBER 18, 2017

FRUIT SALE IS HERE!! - Order envelopes were sent home last week! Remember to have your customers check out the website! Many more additional items are listed there….you can order and pay for your purchase online too. Our website is open for business at smsfundraising.net. The website has pictures and descriptions of all items. All of the items make GREAT Christmas gifts for your mailman, your favorite babysitter, and your summer lawn gardener!! It’s not just fruit - lots of items to choose from!! Paper orders are DUE October 26th. (Remember we only have 3 fundraisers this year so we need every family to chip in and sell as much as you can!)

THANK YOU!! - to our fall sports coaches: Jennifer Thormeyer, 7/8 Volleyball; Jim Kalina and Nicole Green, 5/6 Volleyball; and Val Gassman, Cross Country. They give so much of their time and energy and we really do appreciate it!!

PICTURE RETAKES - are TOMORROW! If you want your child to have a retake, send the COMPLETE package back to school with them on October 19th. They will turn them into the photographers that morning and you will receive the same package as you had originally ordered.

The shop closes this Sunday, October 22nd at 11:59PM. You may pick up your orders at the school on November1st at 3:00PM.   NOTE: We now have “light blue” as a uniform shirt option. Check it out in the store!!

END OF FIRST QUARTER - is Wednesday, October 25th. Report cards will be posted online November 2nd.

PT PENGUIN - Keep those pennies coming in! We will be collecting pennies for the United Way through October 25th. The class that collects the MOST pennies gets a FIRST CLASS popcorn party provided by the United Way.

SERVE-A-THON - Your child should have brought home a permission slip and sponsor sheet for this years Serve-A-Thon which takes place the morning of October 27th. Mrs. Gainey would appreciate fleece material to make the blankets for Gianna’s House. If you are donating fabric, please have it precut. This helps immensely with the process of tying blankets. For younger students, please have your child bring their car seat the morning of the Serve-A-Thon. We always need parent drivers - so please consider helping out with your class. Permission forms are due back this Friday, October 20th. We are looking forward to a fun morning of serving our community. TRUNK OR TREAT - Home & School is sponsoring a “Trunk or Treat” fun day on Sunday, October 29th from 2-3PM in the St. Mary’s Parish Center parking lot. Start planning now to decorate your trunk, bring some good candy, and have some fun with the St. Mary’s families!! Awards for Best Trunk, Best Costume and Best Pumpkin too!! Have you turned in your registration to reserve your parking spot? 

SUPER HERO CHALLENGE - look for the flyer today! St. Mary’s Staff and students are asked to dress up as a super hero and bring a monetary donation for our local PAD’s Shelter for the Homeless on Tuesday, October 31st! Your costume can be as simple as a Super Hero T-Shirt or a cape. No props or masks please.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES - will be held on Tuesday, October 31st. Grades K-5 will begin at 2:00; while  Grades 6-8 will begin at 2:30.

ALL SAINTS DAY - Please join us at Mass on Wednesday, November 1st at 8:30. Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 8th grade students will be dressing up as saints!

BOY’S BASKETBALL PICTURES - will be taken Wednesday, November 1st at 3:15. Coaches have order envelopes that will be sent home.

EDUCATION COMMISSION - meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 8th at 6PM in the Staff Lounge.

EARLY DISMISSAL - Thursday, November 9th at 11:15 for Parent/Teacher Conferences. Conferences will be scheduled from 12:00PM to 7:00PM. We will let you know when the sign-up opens on SchoolSpeak.

SAINTS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM - the boys Cross Country team placed 12th out of 27 teams in the State 1A Division this past weekend! What a great season. Well done Saints!!

HOME AND SCHOOL - next meeting will be Monday, November 13th at 6:00PM in the Staff Lounge.

BOX TOPS - Thank you to everyone who has clipped and sent in Box Tops. We have a great competition going between the classes! Please continue to send in your Box Tops labeled with your child’s name and class for the class competition. This Friday, Oct. 20th is the last day to send in Box Tops for the class competition for the donut party. 7th grade has currently taken the lead!

LIBRARY NEWS - We have a new member of the Birthday Book Club for October: Harrison Hodge (K),  “R” is for Rocket”.

YARD SIGNS - Official St. Mary’s Yard Signs are available for purchase for $10. They are double sided and come complete with a sturdy steel holder to keep the sign in place in the ground! Great way to market our school!
